PRIZE 2018

The 2018 prize description will follow soon. In 2017, the prize offered by Romania’s regional ESNC competition included:

  • EUR 2,500 prize pool (out of which EUR 1,000 provided by CS Romania) to be awarded to the winner (EUR 2,000) and the first runner-up (EUR 500) for implementing or promoting their ideas
  • A one month payed internship at the Siemens Convergence Creators center (accommodation included), in order to give insights to the winners about the space sector business, including assistance in identifying potential research partners, support in accessing public/private financing and business coaching
  • Furthermore, the winner was offered access to a training programme, in order to develop their skills on a specific technology, at their own choice, limited to EUR 500 (provided by Siemens Convergence Creators)
  • Both the winner of the regional competition, as well as the runner up, could benefit from access to technical facilities, technical consulting experts in implementing their ideas and technical support (provided by ROSA)
  • The winner participated in the ESNC 2017 Awards Ceremony (travel and accommodation covered by CS ROMANIA within a maximum amount of EUR 500).
  • The winner was eligible to access  tailored E-GNSS Accelerator business support worth EUR 62,000 (if eligible)

    The Romanian Space Agency

    Established in 1991 and reorganised in 1995 as a public institution within Romania's Ministry of National Education, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) develops the National Space Programme and coordinates its implementation through research projects and space applications.

Meanwhile, ROSA serves as the lead organisation of the Programme for Research, Development and Innovation STAR (Space Technology and Advanced Research) and represents the Romanian Government in international cooperation programs such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the United Nations (UN) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Led by Dr. Phys. Marius-Ioan Piso, president of ROSA since 2004, the agency carries out its own research and development projects through the ROSA Research Centre.

    The business laid its foundation on fixed and mobile telecommunications and offered various services which covered the entire value chain: consulting, development, integration, support & service.
    In close cooperation with the Transilvania University of Brasov, the company rapidly developed in the international business environment. Siemens PSE SRL has contributed to the activities of the research and development division – Siemens PSE ever since 2001, by providing technical know-how for the development of corporate products and services, and has successfully become a part of the division’s knowledge network.
    Every year, between 2002 and 2006, the business almost doubled its volume and number of employees, reaching a better positioning and growth on all business lines: mobile & fixed telephony and software & hardware development.
    In 2010, Siemens PSE SRL was integrated into the global CVC (former CMT) division, with a proven industry domain expertise, corporate culture and customer-orientation.     The prize pool is co-financed by the European Commission’s DG Grow. The aim of the “E-GNSS Accelerator” is to foster the market uptake of Galileo/EGNOS and high technologies in EU28, the EEA and ENP countries.
