North America, home to Canada and the United States of America, is a large and diverse region. It has an area of more than 19 million square kilometres and can have temperatures ranging from -50C to +40 C on any given day. The mobile industry is very strong and growing at a rapid pace. Most people are only familiar with the Silicon Valley in California. In fact, there are vibrant mobile developer communities across the region. In the USA, some of the strongest mobile hubs are located in Seattle (WA), Boston (MA), Austin (TX) and Detroit (MI). In Canada, strong mobile hubs can be found in Vancouver (BC), Toronto (ON) and Montreal (PQ). The region is host to many wireless events each month ranging from a 50 person meet-up to large conferences with 1,000 attendees or more. CTIA hosts wireless conferences twice a year and attracts over 25,000 people per event. Many large, global companies are located in the region including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, RIM, to name just a few.
