Prize
The Agency for Science Innovation and Technology (MITA) is the main governmental institution responsible for implementing innovation policy in Lithuania. MITA will provide the regional winner with a complete package of services including:
- Training
- Business coaching
- IPR consulting
- Market and feasibility studies
- Marketing activities
- Access to experts
The prize package is worth a total of EUR 10,000.

Situated on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, Lithuania
has a rich history and unique traditions, the oldest university
in Eastern Europe, and a highly educated workforce
(40% with higher education). Having developed a
sophisticated communications infrastructure, Lithuania
leads the world in the number of mobile telephone
subscribers per 100 citizens and has the highest GSM penetration
in Europe.
The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has approved
the National Long-Term R&D Strategy and its implementation
programme in line with the provisions of its
Science and Technology White Paper. With a view to the
national need for high-tech development, the Government
has been working on facilitating the development of high-tech
production areas that have global prospects and the
research potential necessary to produce globally competitive
products. This programme provides for the development
of R&D in biotechnologies, mechatronics, laser and
information technologies, nanotechnologies, and electronics.

Lithuania promotes R&D in biotech, lasers, ICT, nanotech, mechatronics & electronics. The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania is responsible for developing a legal and economic framework boosting economic development; it ensures public welfare and employment. Its tasks include the promotion of innovation, SME development, the administration of EU structural funds, the country’s space policy, etc.
