Valencia joins the European Satellite Navigation Competition as 18th partner region
On time for the final spurt of the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2009 (ESNC) the Valencia Community joins the network
as 18th partner region.
Having begun with three partner regions in 2004, the international ideas competition for innovative satellite navigation
applications is now in its sixth year calling on innovators from all over the world.
As of now the ESNC online database is open for ideas submission through the region of Valencia at
https://esnc.galileo-masters.com. Deadline for ideas submission
is 31 July.
To further incite particants to take part for the new region, sponsoring partner NAVTEQ is raffling off a GPS-enabled smart
phone to the first, the tenth and the 20th fully completed ideas profile for the Valencia Community.
The regional management partner for ESNC is the Valencian Institute of Small and Medium-Sized Industry (IMPIVA), a public
entity of the regional government of Valencia Community (Generalitat Valenciana), responsible for the implementation of its
industrial promotion policy in the sphere of small and medium-sized enterprises. To the winner of the Valencian ESNC Challenge
the Valencian Community will offer a six-month incubation phase at the CEEI Valencia (incubator centre) including free office
space, infrastructure, and telecommunications, a marketing budget as well as ten days of coaching. The aim of the programme is
to accompany the entrepreneurs through the pre-seed phase up until the founding of the company.
The regional winner of the Valencia Community will compete with 17 other regional winners and eight special topic winners for
the grand prize of € 20,000. The overall winner - the GALILEO Master - will be chosen in September and awarded together with
all other winners at a state reception in the Munich Residenz on 21 October.

Facts and data on the European Satellite Navigation Competition
The European Satellite Navigation Competition is an international innovation contest that awards the best ideas for applications
in satellite navigation. The competition has been organised by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen since 2004 and is oriented
toward companies, entrepreneurs, research institutes, universities, and private individuals. Having begun with three partner
regions, this year's ESNC will be held in 18 high-tech regions all over the world: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Lower
Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Nice / Sophia Antipolis, Prague, South Holland, Madrid, Lombardy, Australia, Taiwan, and Great
Britain, as well as newcomers Øresund, Gipuzkoa, Valencia, Switzerland, and Israel.
The ESNC is intended to further strengthen international collaboration among these regions, particular with regard to the
development of applications and services made possible by the European satellite navigation system Galileo. The competition is
held under the patronage of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology and is
supported by Messe München GmbH. The main winners of the ESNC - the GALILEO Master, the special prize winners, and the 18
regional winners - will be recognised at a state reception to be held at the Munich Residenz on October 21, 2009.
