A Glimpse of Tomorrow's Satellite Navigation
German Aerospace Center (DLR) sponsoring prize for "next-generation navigation"

As part of the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2010, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is offering a special topic prize for "next-generation navigation". This subject area is meant to motivate participants to come up with fundamentally new ideas, optimised technologies, and application-oriented innovations for the satellite navigation of tomorrow. Oriented toward companies, research institutes, public organisations, and private entrepreneurs, the competition is still accepting entries until 31 July.

It seeks market-ready submissions from companies, universities, and research institutes that create value in logistics by means of applications in satellite navigation and mobile IT. Doing so requires both innovations and improvements to existing solutions.

DLR Special Topic Prize for Professional Satellite Navigation Applications
Highly precise, interference-free, and secure - the advanced satellite navigation applications the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is looking for in the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2009 will have to bring at least one of these qualities to the table, along with sustainable benefits for the economy and public sector. DLR is offering €150,000 in consulting services to the winners.

Innovation potential top 11 - The European Satellite Navigation Competition premieres the best applications of 2007
Secure financial transactions, Web 2.0 for parcel service providers, a smartphone as an all-knowing tourist guide – The European Satellite Navigation Competition 2007 demonstrates, for the fourth time, the application diversification for satellite navigation. In the residency of Munich the winners and finalists of the prestigious ideas competition were premiered overnight. Eleven European high-tech regions participated in the competition in the meantime and with more than 250 registered idea participants this year, a new all-time participant high was achieved. Innovative solutions for the most diverse of industries were awarded this time around: health and finance, automotive, telecommunications, traffic man-agement, environment protection, tourism, and logistics and transportation.

Record Participation in the 2007 European Satellite Navigation Competition
For three months, innovators from all over Europe have been working on new applications in the field of satellite-aided navigation. This year’s competition ended on July 31 – with record participation numbers. Also reaching an all-time high before the deadline was the number of participating partner regions: In early July, Lombardy joined as the 11th region for the final stretch of the competition.
