Participants questionnaire:

A total of 19 questions have to be answered (20 if applying also for the GNSS Living Lab Prize). Some questions are multiple choice and some questions have to be answered in writing. In total your entered text will amount to approx. 3 Din A4 pages.

The database for entering your idea(s) is divided into 4 sections: technical aspects, commercial aspects, legal aspects und upload of additional documents.

It is mandatory that the 3 sections: technical aspects, commercial aspects, and legal aspects are completed. The 4th section 'uploads of additional documents' is optional, but it is a supporting section for the panel of experts.

Technical aspects:
In the first section, you are asked to describe your idea / solution as accurately and as clearly as possible. It is very important to clarify which problem(s) your idea / solution can solve and why it stands out from existing solutions. Explain in detail the benefits (customer, economical, ecological, etc.). Use clear, comprehensible data and information when describing your specifications and technical development status, and explain the process required to realise your idea / solution.

  2. Please describe your idea / solution. Please consider aspects such as its technical specifications and advantages, the problem it solves, the fields of application, and improvements to existing solutions.
  3. Please describe the connection between your idea / solution and GNSS (GPS/Glonass/Galileo/EGNOS, etc.). Which of these systems do you prefer and what are the relevant system features (integrity, high accuracy, reliability, availability etc.) that your idea / solution exploits?
  4. What is necessary in order to realise your idea / solution, e.g. resources, budget, estimated (procurement) costs for the product, equipment, basic parameters, etc.?
  5. Has your idea / solution already been tested?
  6. Does a prototype or model of your idea / solution already exist?
  7. Public abstract: If you would like to share your idea with potential development partners in the ESNC network after this year's competition ends (regardless of how you place), please enter a short description of your idea here. (max. 1000 characters)

Commercial aspects:
This section is about the market potential of your idea / solution, i.e. market(s) and target group(s). Here you should give an overview of the specific industrial sector(s), describing in detail the most important influential factors and the sector's expected development. Your information should include data on market size, barriers, competition and especially on potential customers. You should also include the estimated timeframe necessary for the technical realisation of your application and its market launch.

  3. Please select the most appropriate field of application for potential future adaptions of your idea.
  4. Please describe your target market regarding customers, users, operators, past and future market developments, market value, competitors, etc.
  5. Which are the budgetarian needs required to realise your idea / solution regarding manpower, procurement/equipment and marketing?
  6. Please describe your business case (financing, savings potential, ROI for potential customers, etc.)
  7. How much time will you require before you can guarantee the application's technical feasibility?
  8. How long will the time period be, before it is ready to be launched on the market?
Legal aspects:
  1. The last section deals with formal project aspects and with the trademark and patent rights of your idea / solution. Explain how specific laws, regulations, certifications, etc. can influence its development and going to market.
  2. Is your idea / solution patented or have you already applied for a patent?
  3. If yes, in which countries and under which reference number?
  4. Which regulations, laws, specifications, certifications, etc. have to be taken into consideration during the realisation of your idea / solution and how do these basic parameters effect the development and going to market of your idea / solution?
