On 31 July the seventh edition of the European Satellite Navigation Competition has ended with a great variety of innovative ideas. The previous record of inventive suggestions and participating countries has been remarkably exceeded: this year 357 progressive ideas came from no less than 44 countries.
The ideas will now be evaluated by experts from all over the world and the winners will be awarded on 18 October in the Munich Residence.
In recent years, the ESNC has awarded ideas such as a real-time tour guide service for travellers; a satellite-based method for locating multiple avalanche victims quickly, precisely, and simultaneously; an integrated system for remote prenatal monitoring; a mobile, location-based game that turns players themselves into joysticks; and a system that combines satellite positioning with wind measurements and search-and-rescue dogs' sense of smell.
Have a look at this issue of "Success Stories" to get an impression of ideas awarded in past years and learn how winners can benefit from participation.
